The Doors’ fourth album, released in 1969, received very mixed reviews. The band sought new influences and worked with strings and horns, but the fusion of psychedelic rock and poetry was not successful on all songs. The mix was particularly successful on the hit „Touch Me” and the riffs on „Wild Child” were also well received.
The remastering of the SACD was done by Doug Sax, assisted by Bruce Botnick, the Doors’ producer and sound engineer. The original masters were compiled on a tape machine with a valve input stage, and a machine with a valve output stage was also used to play back the tapes to be remastered. The surround sound is based on the 96k/24bit files that Botnick mixed and mastered from the original analogue masters for the PERCEPTION audio DVD release. The SACDs were resampled to DSD (without filters) using a Weiss Saracon converter. Finally, Gus Skinas of Super Audio Center did the pre-production.
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
