Thelonious Monk Septet – Monk’s Music (Vinil 180g, LP)

‘Monk’s Music is a milestone in jazz – undoubtedly one of Thelonious Monk’s finest albums ever – and a magical fusion of talents that unites a multitude of jazz traditions! The work is performed by an ambitious Monk septet that also includes Coleman Hawkins and John Coltrane on tenor sax, and anyone who ever doubted Hawk’s brilliance will be proved wrong here.

The rest of the band is equally great: Ray Copeland on trumpet, Gigi Gryce on alto, Wilbur Ware on bass and Art Blakey on drums – they all join Monk to create a perfect set of tunes that are practically the definition of ‘modern jazz’. These include ‘Abide With Me’, ‘Off Minor’, ‘Crepuscule With Nellie’ and ‘Epistrophy’.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
