Michael Jackson’s third solo album – “Music & Me” – was released while he was still a member of the Jackson 5 and 14 years old. It was released in April 1973 on Motown Records, and although – or perhaps precisely because – it showed significant artistic growth, the album sold just under 80,000 copies in the U.S. – about a quarter of the sales figures of its predecessor, “Ben.” “Music & Me” was released during a difficult phase of Jackson’s career, as his voice was beginning to change. In addition, the music landscape was also changing: Inspired by other Motown artists such as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Jackson wanted to include his own compositions on the album, but the label would not allow it. After its release, it would be another two years before Michael Jackson released his next album, “Forever, Michael,” as his voice had since matured significantly.
Universal Music Japan is now presenting a strictly limited LP reissue of “Music & Me” – pressed on high-quality, clear green 180-gram vinyl (33 RPM). The album comes with an OBI strip and contains a booklet including liner notes and lyrics.
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
