American musician Ken Peplowski has made a name for himself as a clarinetist and tenor saxophonist, particularly in Japan. In recent years he has released three of his albums on Venus Records. He became known as a member of the Benny Goodman Orchestra and through his participation in various soundtracks for Woody Allen films. “When You Wish Upon A Star” contains refreshingly varied new arrangements of legendary jazz standards. Peplowski is accompanied by excellent musicians such as Ted Rosenthal on piano, Gary Mazzaroppi on bass and Jeff Brillinger on drums.
Incidentally, there are two different versions of this album. One in which Ken Peplowski plays the songs on the clarinet, and this one in which he switches to the tenor saxophone – a must-have for collectors!
Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The renowned label uses a special mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound,” which produces a powerful, dynamic sound and is highly regarded by audiophiles worldwide. A quick note: Venus LPs are pressed only once. Once the run is sold out, the title is removed from the catalog and will not be reissued. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to place their orders: the releases from the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
