When Enigma’s music was first heard more than 25 years ago, the then sensational mixture of Gregorian monk chants, pop, ambient sounds and ethnic influences caused quite a stir, especially as it initially remained a mystery who was behind Enigma. Originally conceived as a band without a face, it didn’t take long after the release of the debut album MCMXC A. D. in November 1990 for it to become known that Michael Cretu, one of Germany’s most successful music producers, was behind the project.
Cretu, who had previously produced the pop starlet Sandra, achieved further great success with Enigma: The album and the single Sadeness sell extremely well and storm the charts within a very short time, even though (or perhaps because) Sadeness is boycotted by some radio stations because they classify the song as blasphemous. MCMXC A. D. made it to number one in the album charts in over twenty countries and achieved gold and platinum status in a total of 25 countries, while Sadeness reached the top of the singles charts in seven European countries and was also a huge hit in the USA. Ongoing serial number.
Here’s a little tip from us: Only the first 1,000 copies of this limited edition, manufactured in Japan, feature a sequential serial number and are therefore extremely sought after by collectors. So don’t wait too long to place your order!
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
