In 1968, singer, keyboardist and guitarist Al Kooper, along with other members of the Blues Project, formed the band Blood, Sweat & Tears. With a large line-up, Kooper explored a range of sounds, styles and compositional approaches. His first-rate band initially included rock and jazz musicians such as guitarist Steve Katz, bassist Jim Fielder, jazz drummer Bobby Colomby, and renowned horn players Randy Brecker, Dick Halligan, Fred Lipsius, and Jerry Weiss. After the debut, Kooper left the band, the lineup changed, and the follow-up became a commercial success.
