Descriere

The Symphonie espagnole in D minor op. 21 for violin and orchestra is probably Edouard Lalo’s best-known composition and should be part of every violinist’s repertoire. Lalo, who was of Spanish descent, subtly and pointedly incorporated the folklore and flair of Spain into this colourful, highly rhythmic and dramatic work. The complete version of the Violin Concerto in five movements can be heard here, presented by Polish virtuoso Henryk Szeryng on violin and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Walter Hendl. Lalo, himself a violinist, wrote an enormously demanding solo part, rich in nuances and effects, which Szeryng masters with bravura. The recording was made on 28 February 1959 at Orchestra Hall, Chicago.

Analogue Productions is releasing this recording as part of its „RCA Living Stereo Series”, which reissues the most important Living Stereo titles. The hybrid SACD has been remastered from the original master tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound Studios.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
