Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio Plays Songs (UHQCD)

Following the “Reunion” trilogy – “Blues For K”, “Sweet For K”, and “Request” – by the Three Blind Mice duo of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto and Yoshihiko Kannari comes “Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio Plays Songs”, an album that is sure to captivate the audiophile community just as much as the first three releases. Under the motto “The Piano Sings,” the trio celebrates wonderful melodies that invite you to hum along With Tsuyoshi Yamamoto’s delicate touch and Yoshihiko Kannari’s masterful recording artistry, this fascinating work brings together the talents of two absolute masters of their craft. Thias and the selection of pieces – including well-known songs by the legendary singer-songwriter Matt Dennis – has resulted in an instrumental jazz album that exudes an incredible sense of intimacy.

MUSICIANS

Tsuyoshi Yamamoto: piano
Hiroshi Kagawa: bass
Toshio Osumi: drums

UHQCD stands for Ultimate High Quality Compact Disc and is a joint development of the Japanese CD replication company Memory-Tech and the Audio Quality CD Company from Hong Kong. Unlike conventional CDs, UHQCDs are not pressed from polycarbonate, but cast from a photopolymer and cured with UV light. Another layer of high-purity polycarbonate is applied to the softer photopolymer for scratch protection. The combination results in significantly reduced reflection of laser light inside the CD and an unmatched precise edge transition between pits and lands of the CD. UHQCDs are 100% compatible with standard CD players. Musically, the result is a sound image strongly reminiscent of analog master tapes.
