Sonny Rollins – Saxophone Colossus [Mono] (SACD hibrid mono)

With Saxophone Colossus, Sonny Rollins finally achieved the widespread recognition he deserved as a central figure in the jazz world. Until this release, music critics had not taken Rollins seriously, while his colleagues already knew that he was one of the most influential new forces on the jazz scene. Saxophone Colossus” from 1956 inspired critics to write scholarly treatises; fans celebrated Rollins’ creativity, his humour and his outstanding ballads. The tenor saxophonist is accompanied by Tommy Flanagan on piano, Doug Watkins on bass and Max Roach on drums.

The hybrid mono SACD appears in a mini-LP cover as part of a series of 50 reissues from the legendary Prestige label. There will be 25 mono and 25 stereo recordings. The mastering was done by Kevin Gray at his Cohearent Audio Studios.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
