Sarah Vaughan feat. Clifford Brown and Others – Sarah Vaughan (SHM-SACD single layer)

In 1954, the ‘Queen of Jazz Singing’ released this early masterpiece with jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown and several other excellent musicians such as Herbie Mann and Paul Quinichette. Her famous rendition of ‘Lullaby of Birdland’ opens the session, which is regarded as a high point in jazz singing. Connoisseurs praise the album as one of the strongest in Vaughan’s career, with a great vocal performance and a virtuoso Brown.

With the ‘Verve Acoustic Sounds’ series, Universal Japan is reissuing great recordings from the ‘Verve’ label in the best possible sound quality.

Musicians: Sarah Vaughan (voc), Clifford Brown (tr), Paul Quinichette (ts), Herbie Mann (fl), Jimmy Jones (p), Joe Benjamin (kb), Roy Haynes (dr), Ernie Wilkins (cond), John Malachi (p)

This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal’s SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums’ master tapes without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player. Please do not use L’Art du Son or alcohol-based cleaning agents. – Please note: All titles are designed by Universal Music as limited edition collector’s items for the Japanese market.
