Following the huge success of “The LowSwing Sessions,” “Memories Fade To Tape,” and “One For Sorrow, Two For Joy” – which were named Albums of the Month or Year by many music magazines and are also highly regarded by the audiophile community for their sound and musical quality – “Reema – Direct To Disc At Studio 3” is now being released. For this special album, the British singer-songwriter and the LowSwing team traveled to Abbey Road Studios in London. The idea behind it was to capture Reema’s songs in their most intimate form: voice and guitar, recorded live in Abbey Road’s “Studio Three” – the place where many legendary works by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, and other musical greats were created.

As the album title suggests, “Reema – Direct To Disc At Studio 3” was not created during conventional studio sessions: The album was recorded entirely analog using the “direct-to-disc” process, which means that the music was recorded directly onto the master lacquer disc as it was played – without overdubs or edits – with only the microphones and the mixing console standing between Reema and the cutting machine. Abbey Road is one of the few studios in the world still equipped for live direct-to-lacquer recordings – a process so demanding that it requires specialized tools and a team of experts to master it. For the recordings of “Reema – Direct To Disc At Studio 3,” renowned engineer Alex Gordon operated the cutting lathe upstairs, while producer and sound engineer Guy Sternberg mixed the performance downstairs. Reema describes the sessions as a kind of dance between her, Guy, and Alex, in which everyone had to move in perfect sync. A “direct-to-disc” recording like this always has its own unique magic: subtle shifts in dynamics, vocal nuances, the interplay between Reema and her guitar – a moment that happens only once and is frozen in time forever. “Reema – Direct To Disc At Studio 3” is a document of a truly extraordinary performance! The same sessions were recorded simultaneously onto master tape. The LP “Reema – Direct To Master Tape At Studio 3” (LOSW017T), which includes a bonus track and consists partly of other takes, can be found HERE .

Sarah “Reema” Kaydar was born in London in 1985, the daughter of Marius Müller-Westernhagen, and grew up with her mother, an artist and photographer who moved in the circles of artists such as Brian Eno, Michael Karoli, and Jah Wobble. Influenced by this environment, she discovered her passion for songwriting at the age of seven. Through her contributions to the soundtrack of the feature film “Love, Rosie” and her concerts with her band “Mimi And The Mad Noise Factory” as the opening act for great bands like The Kaiser Chiefs, Imagine Dragons, and Biffy Clyro, she built up a large fan base and received a great deal of positive acclaim from the music press. The LP (33 RPM), limited to 2,000 numbered copies, was pressed on 140-gram vinyl at the Pallas record factory in Germany.

LowSwing Records is a young record label dedicated to the love of music in analog format. LowSwing productions are recorded and mixed on analog tape and then cut directly to vinyl. The heart of the label is the LowSwing Recording Studio in Berlin (www.lowswing.de), where owner Guy Sternberg devotes himself to exciting new artists with the production values of yesteryear.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
