Oliver Nelson is known to posterity primarily as an arranger and band leader. When he came to attention with a series of recordings for the Prestige label, he was celebrated as a leader of small ensembles and a composer who refreshed musical traditions while looking ahead. Screamin’ the Blues is excellent evidence of this: a rousing, funky modern set interpreted by a virtuosic and visionary sextet. Joining them are saxophonist Eric Dolphy as well as Richard Williams, Richard Wyands, George Duvivier and Roy Haynes.
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
