Miles Davis – Sorcerer (SuperVinyl 180g, LP)

The 1967 album ‘Sorcerer’ lives up to its name with its magic for the ears and its beguiling musical spells. The third of five albums by the legendary second Miles Davis quintet, ‘Sorcerer’ fascinates with its instrumental colours and subtle details. It is in this respect that the album benefits from Krieg Wunderlich’s remastering for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. The myriad shades, interwoven textures and relaxed nuances that hold these compositions together are rendered with the utmost realism on this SuperVinyl LP.

Wayne Shorter’s horn spreads pure lyricism across a vast stage, Tony Williams’ drums sound hard and precise or feathery as required, Herbie Hancock’s piano runs are given more space and their connection to the central rhythms becomes clearer. Apart from the last track, all the tracks on the album were written by Davis’ bandmates; ‘Nothing Like You’ is a tribute to Davis’ last wife, who is also featured on the cover. Sorcerer’ belongs in every jazz collection.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
