Ken Peplowski Quartet – The Summer Knows: The Music of Michel Legrand and Marilyn & Alan Bergman (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

American musician Ken Peplowski has made a name for himself primarily in Japan as a clarinetist and tenor saxophonist, releasing three albums with Venus Records in recent years. He gained fame as a member of the Benny Goodman Orchestra and through his contributions to various soundtracks for Woody Allen films. “The Summer Knows: The Music Of Michel Legrand And Marilyn & Alan Bergman” is dedicated to the world-famous French composer Legrand and showcases Peplowski’s warm, expressive playing, which remains true to the jazz tradition and features refreshingly varied new arrangements of legendary jazz standards. Peplowski is accompanied by outstanding musicians such as Ole Kock Hansen on piano, Hans Backenroth on bass and Kristian Leth on drums.

“The Summer Knows: The Music Of Michel Legrand And Marilyn & Alan Bergman” was recorded on September 21, 2025, at Village Recording in Copenhagen, Denmark, and mixed and mastered by legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara.

Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound” – also for the strictly limited double LP, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and cut at 33 RPM. This special mastering produces a very powerful, present sound and is highly valued by audiophiles worldwide.

A quick note: Venus LPs are pressed only once. Once the run is sold out, the title is removed from the catalog and will not be reissued. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to place their orders: the releases from the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
