Johnny Hartman – Once In Every Life (SACD hibrid)

Baritone Johnny Hartman began his career in Earl Hines’ band, played in Dizzy Gillespie’s big band and produced his first record in 1956, which fell short of expectations. His 1963 album with John Coltrane, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartmann, brought him great success and attention. It is said that even Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin regularly attended his shows and studied his phrasing. In 1980, the singer released his last album, Once In Every Life. Accompanied by Frank Wess, Joe Wilder and Billy Taylor, among others, Hartmann presents a selection of ballads with a velvety voice. His baritone is in perfect control, and the instruments emerge from the darkness to provide first-rate support.

The remastering for Analogue Productions was done by Kevin Gray in the studios of Cohearant Audio. The hybrid stereo SACD comes in a jewel case with an 8-page booklet. A must for all fans of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
