„The great Günter Baby Sommer meets the great sound tinkerer Dominique Klatte. The result is a musical document of the highest musical and tonal quality with impressive entertainment value. The choice of the church for Sommer’s solo performance proved to be a stroke of luck, especially for the drums. The natural reverberation of the space cannot be imitated in studio recordings, no matter how modern the technology. The sound spectrum of the huge percussion arsenal is immortalised on tape with great precision.
For me, the cymbal work with the various mallets has never been captured on tape with such immediacy and sonic accuracy. The infinitely subtle nuances that Sommer elicits from his arsenal are all captured. Even in a live concert, this immediacy cannot be felt, heard and experienced with such presence. [This solo concerto and the masterful sound engineering are the best I have ever heard in this genre. (Dr Stephan von Clarmann)
