Fritz Reiner & Chicago Symphony Orchestra – Festival (SACD hibrid multicanal)

Fritz Reiner drives the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to great heights as he plays his way through a programme of the groovier Russian composers, clearly with an eye to the marketability of the recording for RCA. The concept obviously worked, as there have been countless reissues of the album since it was first released in 1960, and the title is still part of the standard repertoire of music lovers who know little about sustained classical music.

The reissue for Analogue Productions has been produced by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in New York and features a stereo CD and stereo SACD track as well as a 3-channel SACD track based on the original tapes.
