Ernest Ansermet & Royal Opera House Orchestra, Covent Garden – The Royal Ballet Gala Performances (SACD hibrid dublu)

For many people, this recording is the number one RCA title. While most of the recordings with Ernest Ansermet are with the Orchestre de la Susise Romande, there are also some with the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, including the Royal Ballet Gala Performances. The online magazine Audiophilia says: „This is the stuff of dreams. The Royal Ballet Gala Performances is one of the finest RCAs ever recorded at London’s Kingsway Hall.

Bernie Grundman remastered the stereo mix for Analogue Productions, with Willem Makkee responsible for the mono mix. The double-hybrid SACD comes in a sturdy cardboard slipcase with a comprehensive booklet. The CD track contains the stereo mix, the hybrid SACD contains the stereo mix followed by a mono mix of the same tracks.
