Eric Dolphy – Far Cry (Vinil 180g, LP)

Together with the innovative trumpeter Booker Little, Eric Dolphy recorded several wonderful pieces shortly before Little’s early death in 1961, four of which can be heard on „Far Cry”. The third album by the multi-talented Dolphy, who is considered a pioneer of free jazz and was admired by greats like John Coltrane, inspires with its adventurousness.

Creative, groundbreaking, yet still grounded in the jazz tradition, the great spiritual influence of Charlie Parker on the work on this album is evident not least in titles such as „Mrs. Parker of K.C. (Bird’s Mother)” and „Ode To Charlie Parker.” Dolphy and Little are accompanied by Jaki Byard on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Roy Haynes on drums.

The 180-gram, 33 rpm LP is part of Analogue Productions’ prestige stereo reissues, which include 25 rare and collectible recordings by recording legend Rudy Van Gelder. Remastered by Kevin Gray.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
