Although his big dream was a career as a musician, after high school Edward Joseph Mahoney decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a police officer. However, music was still his passion and after a short time Mahoney quit the New York Police Department and moved to California to try his luck as a rock singer. Mahoney changed his name to Eddie Money and took a big step towards his goal when he caught the eye of legendary promoter Bill Graham at one of his gigs in 1976.
Graham became Money’s mentor and manager, got him a record deal with Columbia Records and work began on Money’s first album. He was joined by excellent musicians such as guitarist Jimmy Lyon, saxophonist Tom Scott (L.A. Express), pianist Alan Pasqua (Tony Williams Lifetime), bassist Lonnie Turner and drummer Gary Mallaber from the Steve Miller Band. Barely a year later, Money made his breakthrough in 1977 with his debut album Eddie Money and the two hit singles Baby Hold On and Two Tickets To Paradise, laying the foundation for a successful career as a rock star.
Remastered by Ryan Smith of Sterling Sound for Analogue Productions, this mainstream rock classic is now available in phenomenal sound quality on Hybrid Stereo SACD.
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
