Eddie Higgins & Scott Hamilton & Ken Peplowski – Essential Best (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

Experienced jazz pianist Eddie Higgins has played and recorded with many of the biggest names in jazz, including Coleman Hawkins, Jack Teagarden, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie and Wayne Shorter. His discography as a bandleader includes more than 25 recordings. Scott Hamilton’s playing was best described by his colleague, tenor saxophonist and writer Dave Gelly: “Listening to a solo by Scott Hamilton is like listening to a great conversationalist who is in full flow. First comes the voice, the inimitable, confident sound of his tenor saxophone, then the effortless style, and finally the astonishing eloquence and mastery of the language of jazz.” Scott was named “Ronnie” for International Jazz Saxophonist of the Year at the first Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Awards in 2007. Ken Peplowski’s tenor saxophone sounds warm, attractive, and eloquent, while remaining true to the jazz tradition. His playing is so expressive that you can almost hear the lyrics of each song when he plays the melody.

The three exceptional musicians are accompanied on this “Best of” compilation, mixed and mastered by sound wizard Tetsuo Hara, by Jay Leonhart and Steve Gilmore (bass), Joe Ascione (tenor saxophone, clarinet), and Ben Riley and Bill Goodwin (drums).

Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a special mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound” for the strictly limited double LP, cut at 33 RPM and pressed on 180-gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide.

A quick note: Venus LPs are pressed only once. Once the run is sold out, the title is removed from the catalog and will not be reissued. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to place their orders: the releases from the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
