Eddie Higgins Quartet feat. Scott Hamilton – Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

After the great success of “My Foolish Heart”, jazz pianist Eddie Higgins and tenor saxophone great Scott Hamilton followed up with “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” – also recorded with Steve Gilmore on bass and Bill Goodwin on drums – considered a romantic jazz classic. Fans of the Japanese jazz label Venus Records already know how wonderfully the quartet harmonizes.

AllMusic describes “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” very aptly: “It’s like slipping into a bubbling hot tub with a glass of champagne: relaxing and invigorating at the same time… Everything here is elegant and spirited – classic material, lovingly presented without cliché.” It is always amazing to hear how exceptionally these veterans interpret music by artists such as Roxy Music or quote from the Great American Songbook.

Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound” – also for the strictly limited double LP of “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, which is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and cut at 45 RPM. This special mastering produces a very powerful, present sound and is highly valued by audiophiles worldwide. A small note: Venus LPs are only pressed once. When the first edition is out of print, the corresponding title is removed from the catalog and will no longer be produced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: all releases of the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
