Clifford Brown – Study in Brown (SHM-SACD single layer)

In the mid-1950s, at the time of the recording of „Study in Brown,” Clifford Brown was considered, along with Miles Davis, one of the greatest talents on the jazz trumpet and a trailblazer of hard bop. His sudden death just one year later put a much too early end to this hopeful development. Breathtakingly powerful, Brown fires up his instrument at a speed never heard before and impresses with complex new compositions, together in a strong quintet.

This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal’s SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums’ master tapes without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player.
