Aretha Franklin – Aretha Now (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

The incredible success story of the Queen of Soul at Atlantic Records continued with “Aretha Now.” The follow-up to “Lady Soul” begins with an absolute classic: “Think,” a timeless anthem of self-empowerment with gospel call-and-response and the immortal refrain “Freedom!” – truly one of the greatest soul songs of the 1960s. Aretha Franklin made her first recordings as a gospel singer at the tender age of 14 and later became the most successful artist in the history of the Billboard charts. With an incredible 88 (!) singles in the Billboard charts, Aretha Franklin won 18 Grammy Awards, including “Best Female R&B Vocal Performance,” “Best Soul Gospel Performance” and “Best Rhythm & Blues Recording.” With over 75 million records sold worldwide, she is considered an American national treasure and was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Respect!

The smash hit “Think” is followed by a fantastic reinterpretation of the Bacharach/David song “I Say A Little Prayer,” in which Franklin leads the Sweet Inspirations, whose harmonies characterize this new version of the Dionne Warwick hit. A smooth interpretation of “See Saw” transports Nappy Brown/Ray Charles’ “The Night Time Is The Right Time” to a church setting. She then strolls cheerfully through Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me” and ends the side with a romantic climax before moving on to more up-tempo hits: “You’re A Sweet, Sweet Man,” “A Change” and “I Can’t See Myself Leaving You” – an R&B chart hit considered one of Franklin’s best performances – invite you to dance and celebrate!

As part of the “Atlantic 75 Series,” Analogue Productions is now honoring this masterful album with a sonically outstanding reissue, lovingly mastered by legendary sound engineer Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio: The double LP, pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and cut at 45 RPM, comes in a luxurious old-style tip-on gatefold double pocket jacket by Stoughton Printing.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
