Anne Bisson – The Essentials (UHQCD)

Anne Bisson is an extremely versatile artist. Originally from Quebec, she first became known as a charismatic television personality. After rigorous piano and vocal training in her youth, she won the prestigious Étoiles Du Maurier competition in 1984 with two compositions of her own. Two years later, she sang the role of Cristal in a new version of the popular rock opera “Starmania”, created especially for the Festival d’été de Lanaudière (Quebec). However, 2009 was to change everything: the release and commercial success of her album “Blue Mind” brought her to the attention of a wider audience and the critics were unanimous: Anne Bisson is a born jazz artist! Her subsequent releases were no less successful and established the jazz chanteuse in audiophile circles thanks to the exquisite sound quality of her recordings.

Anne Bisson’s amazing career is reason enough to compile the best songs that this fascinating musician has recorded over the past 16 years and release them for the first time in the form of a sonically outstanding UHQCD: “The Essentials” contains a carefully selected track list featuring Bisson hits such as “September In Montreal”, “Killing Me Softly”, and the bonus track “Les Moulins De Mon Coeur” – a French version of Michel Legrand’s classic “The Windmills Of Your Mind”. Camillo’s UHQCD is based on Bernie Grundman’s legendary remastering, which already made the One-Step vinyl version a box office hit.

UHQCD stands for Ultimate High Quality Compact Disc and is a joint development of the Japanese CD replication company Memory-Tech and the Audio Quality CD Company from Hong Kong. Unlike conventional CDs, UHQCDs are not pressed from polycarbonate, but cast from a photopolymer and cured with UV light. Another layer of high-purity polycarbonate is applied to the softer photopolymer for scratch protection. The combination results in significantly reduced reflection of laser light inside the CD and an unmatched precise edge transition between pits and lands of the CD. UHQCDs are 100% compatible with standard CD players. Musically, the result is a sound image strongly reminiscent of analog master tapes.
