Thelonious Monk Quartet Plus Two – At the Blackhawk (Vinil 180g, LP)

Thelonious Monk’s second visit to San Francisco was the occasion for the sextet sessions that resulted in this album. He brought his current quartet, consisting of Monk himself on piano, Charlie House on tenor sax, John Ore on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. They were joined by two of the West Coast’s most impressive horn players, trumpeter Joe Gordon and tenor saxophonist Harold Land.

The stirring live performance took place in 1960 at San Francisco’s famed Black Hawk jazz club. The resulting album brilliantly and impressively showcases the many facets of Monk, his skill and his magic. It was the jazzman’s twelfth for the Riverside label.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
