The Who – Tommy (SACD hibrid)

The Who’s groundbreaking concept album “Tommy” – a full-fledged rock opera – is a daring, rousing album that catapulted the band to international superstardom upon its initial release in May 1969 and definitively established The Who as one of the most ambitious forces in rock music. Conceived and written by guitarist Pete Townshend, “Tommy” tells the surreal story of a deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes a spiritual and cultural phenomenon. But beyond the narrative, the album is a masterpiece of songwriting and performance, packed with cult classics like “Pinball Wizard,” “I’m Free,” and the transcendent finale “We’re Not Gonna Take It/See Me, Feel Me,” which remain cornerstones of The Who’s live performances to this day. More than half a century later, “Tommy” remains one of the most celebrated and influential works in rock history. For fans of classic rock, it’s an absolute must-have; for audiophiles, it’s a groundbreaking recording! “Tommy” was certified three times gold and twice platinum worldwide for over 2.2 million units sold. According to sources, it has sold over 20 million copies, making it not only The Who’s best-selling release but also one of the world’s best-selling music albums.

Now this groundbreaking rock opera is finally getting the audiophile treatment it has long deserved: The collectible Hybrid SACD (Dual-Layer) from Analogue Productions, mastered in DSD from the original tape masters, unleashes the album’s full power – from the explosive force of Keith Moon’s drums and the thunderous drive of John Entwistle’s bass to the shimmering acoustic passages and Roger Daltrey’s impressive vocals!

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
