On her second album, released in 1991, Sarah McLachlan was still very open to new ideas, but less playful than on her first album, Touch. The beginnings of great folk-pop can already be heard, and the path to the ballads that would later characterise her is also mapped out. However, the whole thing seems even less perfect and therefore perhaps more authentic than the later hit albums such as Surfacing. She draws on great influences such as Sinead O’Connor but still finds her own voice and musical urgency.
Ryan Smith of Sterling Sound in New York handled the reissue for Analogue Productions. It sounds surprisingly much better than the first release, creating warmth and space in the sound and making the former digital coldness completely forgotten.
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
