Ry Cooder – Chicken Skin Music (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

Few artists combine roots, soul, and pure musicality as effortlessly as Ry Cooder. A virtuoso guitarist, producer, and music historian, Cooder has long been revered for exposing the heart of American music. And few albums sound as alive, as inclusive, or as moving as “Chicken Skin Music.” This is Ry Cooder at his best! The title says it all: “Chicken Skin Music” means goose bumps, and Ry Cooder provides plenty of them on this album. Released in 1976, this groundbreaking album shows Cooder at his most adventurous, blending gospel, Tex-Mex, Hawaiian music, folk, and blues into a seamless, moving whole. Long before “world music” became a genre, Cooder was already building bridges – connecting sounds, cultures, and traditions with unparalleled taste and precision. What makes “Chicken Skin Music” so extraordinary is its pure joy of playing. Cooder’s slide guitar glides effortlessly alongside Flaco Jiménez’s accordion, Gabby Pahinuí’s slack-key style, and gospel choir harmonies that propel each track to new heights. Songs like “He’ll Have To Go,” “Stand By Me,” and “Always Lift Him Up / Kanaka Wai Wai” radiate warmth and humanity, revealing Cooder’s rare gift for honoring traditions while reinventing them with his distinctive voice.

As part of its “Acoustic Sounds 40 Series,” Analogue Productions is now celebrating this classic album with a collectible double LP: pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP), cut at 45 RPM and housed in a luxurious tip-on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Printing.
