Miles Davis – Steamin’ With The Miles Davis Quintet [Mono] (Vinil 180g, LP)

Of the many Miles Davis bands, none was more influential or popular than the quintet featuring John Coltrane (tenor sax), Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums) heard on this 1961 recording. Davis’ subdued ballads and medium-tempo standards endeared him to audiences. Fellow musicians caught him with searing renditions of classics like Salt Peanuts and Well, You Needn’t. Coltrane’s searching, restless improvisations fascinated listeners with a sense of adventure. And the impeccably playing rhythm section became a model for bands everywhere.

Steamin’ With The Miles Davis Quintet may not contain any of their own material, but it excellently demonstrates the talent of the five musicians to reshape standards in their own style. Remarkable album by a remarkable band.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
