Miles Davis’ “Kind Of Blue” is undisputedly considered THE jazz album par excellence: an ensemble and five songs that made music history! However, what many jazz enthusiasts don’t know is that the 1958 studio recording sessions of this sextet, consisting of pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian “Cannonball” Adderley and led by trumpet maestro Davis, have brought four more songs to life – compositions that deserve to be immortalized together on one single release! Here it is: “Birth Of The Blue” is nothing less than a unique document of a genius and his equally genious companions. The pieces on this album reflect the historical and musical significance of the protagonists and offer fascinating insights into the modal jazz that made “Kind Of Blue” immortal.
Analogue Productions is proud to present “Birth Of The Blue” as an exclusive vinyl release: The original 3-track recordings were lovingly mixed by lead mastering engineer Vic Anesini at Battery Studios into a brand-new 30-IPS quarter-inch stereo master tape. This was then cut by Matthew Lutthans (The Mastering Lab) at 45 RPM using the legendary all-tube system and Doug Sax’s cutting equipment. The double LP, made from 180-gram vinyl, was of course pressed at Quality Record Pressings and features an extremely luxurious, abrasion-resistant cover by Stoughton Printing. “Birth Of The Blue” offers a high-audiophile listening experience, an extremely high repertoire value, and is therefore a must-buy – not just for fans of Miles Davis!
We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
