Descriere

Jackie McLean would release no less than 21 albums on Blue Note Records between 1959 and 1967, moving from bop to freestyle. On this early bop recording from 1960, however, he sticks to the standards of the genre. The album was recorded by Rudy van Gelder in 1959 and released as BlueNote 84024.

The quartet on this recording consists of Jackie McLean on alto sax, Walter Bishop Jr. on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Art Taylor on drums. The album was given its title after Blue Note executives listened to it and were amazed at the amount of joyful playing on the recording.

This title is part of a series of XRCD24 reissues from the Blue Note catalogue, remastered from the analogue stereo tapes at Oceanway Studios in Hollywood by Alan Yoshida, one of the inventors of the XRCD process. The sound quality of the XRCDs, newly released under the Audio Wave label, goes far beyond previous digitisations and in some cases sounds considerably better than the original LPs. The XRCD comes with a lavishly designed booklet with excellent photography.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
