Idris Muhammad – Kabsha [One Step] (Vinil 180g, LP)

“Kabsha,” originally released in 1980 on the Theresa Records label, is widely regarded as one of Idris Muhammad’s finest sessions as a bandleader. Recorded immediately after his work on Pharoah Sanders’ “Journey To The One,” the “superstar drummer” leads a powerful ensemble on this album through a stripped-down and direct performance of pure rhythm and melody. Featuring tenor sax greats Pharoah Sanders and George Coleman, the session blends hard-swinging bop with profound spiritual depth. “Kabsha” captures a pivotal chapter in Muhammad’s career and his longstanding musical partnership with Sanders, showcasing the rhythmic brilliance that established him as a cornerstone of the spiritual and post-bop scene of the 1980s.

Exclusively for Record Store Day UK, Evosound presents this classic from Theresa Records as a strictly limited-edition LP reissue of 1,700 copies – on pink-indigo-marbled 180-gram vinyl, pressed using the superior-sounding One-Step process and cut at 33 RPM. Jazz fans should definitely seize this opportunity!
