Gary Karr has been hailed by Time Magazine as „the world’s leading solo bassist.” Since his debut with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic in 1962, Karr has performed as a soloist on six continents, accompanied by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, among others. For these ten „Songs of Prayer”, he is joined by Harmon Lewis on organ. The soulful sound of double bass and organ makes for a meditative yet captivating recording.
