Eddie Higgins Quartet feat. Scott Hamilton – My Funny Valentine (Vinil 180g, LP dublu)

Thanks to his releases on Venus Records, Eddie Higgins has built up a large fan base, particularly in Japan. His quartet recordings with legendary tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, bassist Steve Gilmore and drummer Bill Goodwin are extremely popular – the interplay between the four protagonists is based on an incredible musical understanding, which is impressively demonstrated on “My Funny Valentine”: relaxed, soulful and captivating at the same time!

Eddie Higgins has played and recorded with many of the biggest names in jazz, including Coleman Hawkins, Jack Teagarden, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Morgan and Wayne Shorter. His discography as a bandleader includes more than 25 recordings. The recording sessions for “My Funny Valentine” took place on September 11 and 12, 2004 at Avatar Studios in New York.

Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a mastering process called “Hyper Magnum Sound” – also for the strictly limited double LP of “My Funny Valentine”, which is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and cut at 45 RPM. This special mastering produces a very powerful, present sound and is highly valued by audiophiles worldwide. A small note: Venus LPs are only pressed once. When the first edition is out of print, the corresponding title is removed from the catalog and will no longer be produced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: all releases of the “Venus Masterpiece Collection” are extremely popular!

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
