Dire Straits – Making Movies (SACD hibrid)

David Knopfler left Dire Straits during the recording of their third album, ‘Making Movies’, due to disagreements over the distribution of roles in the band. He felt that his brother Mark was taking over and that his own contributions were not being heard in the band. David’s departure coincided with Mark Knopfler’s ambition to develop his skills as a composer and lyricist, which fortunately he did. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ became one of Dire Straits’ best-known hits, but ‘Tunnel of Love’ and ‘Skateaway’ are also good examples. ‘Making Movies’ is jazzier than the previous two albums, with musically more complex arrangements and New Wave-inspired production.

The remastering for this hybrid SACD was done by Shawn R. Britton. The limited edition, serially numbered, comes in a mini-LP sleeve with a 12-page booklet.

We recommend the use of „L’Art du Son” CD/DVD conditioner for even more sonic improvement.
