For many, the abundance of these playing techniques, the styles presented and fused, and the sonic alienations will seem like a guitar solo concert from another planet. But it is precisely this eclectic approach, without any musical blinkers, that results in a furious guitar masterpiece that is second to none. The challenge for a sound engineer in this setting is to capture these subtle nuances on tape in a church nave, without overpowering the useful background noises, which would distract from the presence. As expected, Dominique Klatte has mastered this task with flying colours. Listening to this recording, one cannot help but have the impression of sitting right next to Claus Boesser-Ferrari and being able to perceive all the facets of his playing. (Dr Stephan von Clarmann)
Claus Boesser-Ferrari, born in 1952, is a style-defining guitarist, composer and teacher with an international reputation. He has expanded the sound aesthetics of the acoustic guitar with sound-painting alienations and refined rhythmic-percussive techniques.
