In 1968, singer, keyboardist and guitarist Al Kooper formed the band Blood, Sweat & Tears with other members of the Blues Project. With a large line-up, Kooper explored a wide range of sounds, styles and compositional approaches. His top-notch band initially included rock and jazz musicians such as guitarist Steve Katz, bassist Jim Fielder, jazz drummer Bobby Colomby and renowned reedists Randy Brecker, Dick Halligan, Fred Lipsius and Jerry Weiss. After the debut, Kooper left the band, the line-up changed and the follow-up became a commercial success.
In addition to the debut ‘Child Is Father To The Man’ in a 5.1 surround mix (by Al Kooper), this box set includes the albums Blood, Sweat & Tears (4.0 mix), Blood, Sweat & Tears 3 and Blood, Sweat & Tears 4. The Hybrid SACDs are accompanied by a comprehensive booklet with liner notes by David Clayton-Thomas and photos from the Sony Music Entertainment archives.
