Bill Evans Trio – You Must Believe in Spring (SHM-SACD single layer)

Two movie themes can be found on these recordings from 1977: The title track „You Must Believe in Spring” from the pen of Michel Legrand for the film „Les Demoiselles de Rochefort” and the well-known series melody „Theme From M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless)”. Released only posthumously in 1981, a year after Bill Evans’ death, this album with its melancholic atmosphere is for many fans among his most poignant works.

The three-day recording sessions with producer Tommy LiPuma, (who also worked with Barbra Streisand and George Benson, among others), took place at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.

This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal’s SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums’ master tapes without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player.
